Deaf Program

The 91¹ú²ú×ÔÅÄ Deaf Program is the first and only program ofÌýits kind in Illinois, offering comprehensive community-based services forÌýpersons with serious mental illnesses who are deaf or hard-of-hearing.ÌýStaffed by employees fluent in the use of (ASL) who understand the unique cultural needs ofÌýthe deaf community, the 91¹ú²ú×ÔÅÄ Deaf Program provides aÌýfull range of specialized services and connects clients to otherÌýservices, both within 91¹ú²ú×ÔÅÄ and elsewhere.


Recovery Model
Focused on supporting recovery, 91¹ú²ú×ÔÅÄ’ Deaf Program helps clients live full, independent lives with dignity and respect. Each client receives personal attention in a comfortable environment.

A Leading Program
91¹ú²ú×ÔÅÄ was the first in the nation to offer comprehensive and integrated mental health services to people who are deaf or hard-of-hearing. Today, 91¹ú²ú×ÔÅÄ continues to be a leader in the field.

Services
Through the 91¹ú²ú×ÔÅÄ Deaf Program, clients have access to many services, including:

  • Psychiatric and medical care
  • Housing options (group homes, supportive apartments, and unstaffed housing located throughout the Chicagoland area)
  • Outreach services (home visits, resource referral, and advocacy)
  • Life skills and social groups

The Deaf Program is equipped with videophones, instant messaging, and other technologies.
